Fay-Penn Economic Development Council & Fayette County, PA

In 1990, Robert E. Eberly, Sr. and state and local elected officials secured a $500,000 Economic Revitalization Grant. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania provided the grant to support economic growth in Fayette County, PA. As a result, these efforts led to Fay-Penn’s formation on January 16, 1991. Fay-Penn was established to help grow and strengthen Fayette County’s economy. Mr. Eberly became Fay-Penn’s original Board Chair and served from 1991 through 2001.

Over the years, Fay-Penn administered, created, and merged with several local industrial and economic development organizations. These organizations shared similar goals and supported economic growth throughout Fayette County. Today, Fay-Penn remains the only organization in Fayette County, PA designated by Pennsylvania as a Certified Economic Development Organization (CEDO).

With strong leadership and community support, Fay-Penn continues to thrive. The organization has earned a reputation as one of the Commonwealth’s most respected economic development organizations. Its reputation also extends beyond Pennsylvania and across the country.

Although Fay-Penn’s primary mission remains constant, its strategies continue to expand and evolve. Fay-Penn’s progressive approach allows the organization to adapt to changing economic conditions. This adaptability has played a key role in creating and retaining more than 10,000 jobs. It has also helped generate $1.7 billion in business investment throughout Fayette County, PA.
